Mormak
meets Costa Rican challenge
In February of 2004, Mormak Equipment
was awarded a 3.5 million dollar contract to design and manufacture
a crushing plant for the Toronto based company, Glencairn Gold
Corporation.
The equipment is the heart of their
Gold Mine called Metales Procesados in Miramar, Costa Rica.

Mormak Equipment built a Primary Jaw
Crushing Plant consisting of a 30”x 54” jaw and 52”x 20’ vibrating
grizzly feeder. Three secondary crushing plants each with a 400
H/P roller cone and 6’ x 20’ 3 deck screen were also supplied.
Along with the crushing equipment, nine conveyors and three belt
feeders were all constructed in only a fivemonth period.
Over 145,000 pounds of steel was used
on this project. Twelve semi-trailer trucks hauled the fabricated
components to the Vancouver shipyards. On Oct 8 / 04 they were
loaded on the deck of the motor vessel Ice Pearl and three weeks
later arrived and were off loaded in Porto Calderos’ Costa Rica,
36 kilometres from the mine site and stored until January, 2005.
On Jan 10 / 05 Mormak personnel arrived.
Ten days later, they had the equipment set-up and ready for
the electrical work to be completed.
On March 3 / 05 a Mormak crew returned
for the initial commissioning of the plant. The mine was up
and running by the 8th of March.
While most of the Mormak products
such as Cedarapids Jaws, Cones & Screens are sold in Western
Canada and the USA, they have constructed plants now located
in the Arctic, Panama, Peru and the Caribbean.
